Shadeport structures of various shapes and sizes can be constructed as can be seen from the included examples on these pages. ShadeCorp supplies a range of standard structures with cable or solid tube perimeters.

The structures can be supported in various ways:

  • On four columns (poles), supporting each corner
  • On two columns, using hanging braces
  • On four columns with a cantilever structure (up to a 1.3m cantilever) - as can be seen from photo below
  • Wall-mounted
  • Various combinations of the above

1.2 Hanging Brace To Shadeport

Photographs show cantilever structure (up to a 1.3m cantilever) sometimes used to help drivers negotiate their entrance into the parking bays: and the 165 mm support column with its 5.5M braced hanging brace or cantilever arm, and the domed hoops on which the shadenet lies.

Here are only a few general features, which differentiate our products:

  • Our support columns (poles) for the hanging structure are 165 x 3 mm.
  • Our hanging braces are braced. This makes them stronger and not prone to sagging.
  • The hanging brace has a 12.50 angle i.e. it is 5.5 meters long and 1.2 meters high.
  • Our hoops (the steelwork that forms the dome as depicted above) are bent on a bending machine and not cranked. Apart from the fact that rolled steel is stronger than 'kinked' or 'cranked' round steel  tubing, these rolled hoops also keep net tension evenly spread over the length of the hoop and not concentrated on the cranked points. Consequently, the life of the net (which constitutes about 40% of the material cost of a standard shadeport) is extended due to the non-existence of friction points.

  • The cotton used in sewing our nets is UV resistant and will stand the South Africa sun for at least 8 years. Re-sewing costs are therefore no longer a factor.

  • We use 6 mm steel cables as surrounds rather than nylon cabling. These keep the tension better and for longer, and ensure an even distribution of forces, which lessens the fraying that occurs during heavy winds.

Guarantee
All our structures are guaranteed for 3 (three) years on all materials used, as well as workmanship; and the shade netting carries a minimum five-year warranty against ultra violet degradation.

Unconditional Warranty
Because of the unique construction of the shadenetting (knitted in a polyethylene fabric) it won't rot, run or absorb moisture and it carries up to an 8 year warranty against ultraviolet degradation.

At ShadeCorp, we stitch the nets (as shown in this photo) using specially treated UV stabilized polyester to avoid any ultraviolet degradation of the seams.
