The Shadenetting (Alnet & Knittex) is SABS Approved

Traditionally (in South Africa) 2.5M is allowed per car for parking. This is evident from observation of any parking lot. Consequently shade- and carports have evolved to follow this 'tradition'.

Pictures on right show two and three vehicle configurations, being 5 and 7.5M in width. The depth is normally 5-5.5M. Most motor cars are only about 4-4.5M in length.

The height of these structures is normally 2.1M. Most vehicles, including kombi's and 4 by 4's fit without any problems. A caravan port is however 2.6M high and is also longer (6M) and wider (3.5M).

In the case of a hanging shadeport the specifications are similar excepting for the differences, which are again shown at right.

You may well have noticed that there are no specifications for 4-car (quadruple) structures. And the reason is simple: we don't make them. Of all structural damage caused by high winds and severe storms observed over many years 80%+ was to these 4-car structures.

Carports very much follow the above, excepting that they need a sloping roof for rainwater to run off.
